Metal and Skeletor

Hey folks, I'm back with some more musical interludes as well as a painting update. So I was checkin out CounterFett's blog, All Things Fett, and found this post.

Now I'm a big classic metal fan: Judas Priest, Maiden, Dio, Rainbow, all the greats. I really dig these guys Check out their first album on iTunes: Rise of the Templars. They have got a pretty solid classic metal sound, not that screechy/growlin' vocal nonsense you find today. Plus, for less than a tank of gas, you get some pretty righteous Met-tuhl.

On the other half of the spectrum, Necrons! I got me a Tranzyn the Infinite. (Click for Lols). The moment I saw the model, I knew I had to paint it like Skeletor, So I did! Dig it:

I think he came out well.

RoboSkeletons and Madness!

Hey everybody, long time no post. Haha, anyway, Grease is over (with record-breaking ticket sales, woo!) and I've been crankin' away at the ol' Skelecrons. I've also been on a big H.P. Lovecraft kick and have been voraciously looking up information on him, his works, and oddly enough, a boardgame. Arkham Horror is a game of Pulp Horror based on the works of Lovecraft and other Mythos writers and it looks fantastic. Unfortunately, like all Fantasy Flight Games, it's Hella pricey. But, come birthday or Christmas dollars, I'm probly gonna pick it up, so watch this space. In the mean time, Dig on some finished skelecrons:

Here's what I've got done so far.

My first Scarabs, you can tell from the messy faces. The barrel turning out so well was a lucky break, as the sprue was missing some scarab floaty stands!

That's better. Classic floaty robobugs of death.

Group shot of the Warriors. I don't think you'd want them coming out to pla-yay. (Joke)

It's kind of hard to see, but the faces have a skull-esque line drawing back from the mouth to the cheek bone. It's the little things. Haha

Well, that's it for this week. Oh! You may have noticed some new, non-Wargaming blogs in the Other Cool Stuff section, namely Propnomicon, a blog of Lovecraftian and occult props and paraphernalia, and Dave Lowe's blog of Awesome, which has all kinds of fun stuff. You should check em out. They're chock-a-block full of neat junk.

Greasin' up the Woiks.

Hey guys and gals. Sorry bout the lack of posts here of late, but Hell Week has kicked off at the Theatre, meaning all my hobby time is kaput until next Monday. Not to worry, though. Come said Monday there will be a veritable cornucopia of pictures! So watch this space. In the mean time, Dig this crazy Romantic music:

Keepin' it classy.

A Return to Things Green.

Shaddap, frog. It's totally easy bein' green when you have a choppa.

As you may have figured out from the title, I have returned to work on my nearest and dearest space fungus friends. This week I've started work on Da Pain Train. I've been experimenting with metal methods for large surfaces, (like Battlewagons, for instance) and have discovered a super watery (4:1 water to paint) ratio of Boltgun Metal is pretty righteous over a Tin Bitz base. Once dry, I liberally wash the whole thing with Delvan Mud for that grimy look. Here's some Paint in Progress shots.

With the metals done, I go back and block out all the colours with base coats.

For red, I use Mechrite Red Foundation, and for white, I use Fortress Grey

For the looted Imperial Fist bits up top I used the Iyanden Darksun foundation.

Barbed wire is very orky you know.

I tried to keep the colour palette very limited on this beasty as to keep it from lookin too cartoony.

Well, that's it for this week. Next week, I should have this mean machine's basic painting done. Then the weathering begins! Hooray! Anywho, thanks for stopping by and tune in next time.

Slow Progress

Feels about like this.

Hey everybody. So, it turns out doing Grease is hella bad for your hobby times, haha. But I guess I knew that deep down. But anywho, unless you've been living under a rock, you've probly heard 6th Edition is out. So that's cool. I don't have a roolzbook, but I've been snoopin about in the blogosphere and bothering Ben about specifics. All in all, sounds like gunlines are back with a vengence. Kinda sucks since the majority of my armies are Facepunchers. Booo. However, I do have a rather demenuative gunline army that i've been workin' on.

Guess who's back, bitches!

That's right, the skelecrons are here! As of yet, I only have a destroyer lord done. I'd have more, but I ran out of 3 outta 4 of the colours I need. Guess I get to try the new paint line. Anywho, here's the first of the awakend Legions of Tomb World Eternia.

I got this guy off ebay for cheap (gasp!), but he didn't have a flyin' stand.

So, I improvised. He's pinned to the pillar thingy and I put a secret door to break up the base a little bit.

I tried to position the Mindshackle scarab arm into the best "Cuuurse you, He-Maaaan!" pose.

Well that's it for this instalment of Waaagh! Grimbad. Have fun with your new book, folks. Try not to kill anybody with them. All that paper is heavy!

A Decidely Un-Productful Week.

Lol, basically.

Well, what with all the rehearsin' and G-Dub's annual price hike, I've lost a lot of steam for the ol' 40k. I mean, their prices are just plain ridiculous now. When I started playing, you could get a land raider for 50 bucks US. Now its $75. Abuuuuuh. Well, Before the slump hit, I managed to get some Paint in Progress shots of another member of the Honor Guard. Dig it.

Sword and shield space marines are the best.

Totally a storm shield, you guys.

Next up is the Sanguinary Noviate or whatever the Blood Angels call their Apothecaries. He's an OOP metal Apothecary with a new plastic head and sporting his Flesh Tearers shoulder pad.

And as an added bonus, Tiny Scotsmen! You'll probably be seeing a lot more of these guys in the future as 40k  has taken a big hit in the motivational department.

Well, until next time. Have a good one, folks.

Bullets are Stern Business.

Hey everybody. This week I've got all sorts of fun things. First, I've been cast in the local civic theatre production of Grease as Sonny. This means instead of just being a wise ass off stage, I get to be a Wise ass onstage as well! Success! Next up, I have my next Fully completed unit: Sterngaurd veterans. In between bouts of going Pchew-Pchew and making machine-gun noises, I managed to snap some pictures. So without further ado-do, I give you photos:

First up, we have the sergeant.  I love all the little details on these guys.

It's kinda hard to read, but his backpack says Fury, and his shoulder says Duty.

Next is a brother in Mk VI armour. Or as I like to call it, Lumpy Beaky armour.

I really like the studded look, actually.

Group Shot. Or should that be shooting. Ha!

Next up I have another member of Gabe Seth's Honor Guard. This time he's a more face punchy guy, being armed with two Lightning Claws.
I couldn't decide what to put on his chest bits, so I gave him a name: Decio.

I really dig all the parchment on Brother Decio. I do so love to scribble tiny lines. Need to work on my Aquilas, though...

Well that's it for another week of Waaagh! Grimbad. Next week I'll have the rest of Gabe's Honor Guard, and maybe some Tiny, tiny Scotsmen! Tune in next week!
